Different Masonic Obediences in France...

In France many different Masonic Obediences exist, some restricted to men and some for women only, you also have what is called (mixte) in France, Lodges where men and women come together to carry out the Masonic Work.

The main Obediences of France are:-

THE GRAND ORIENT OF FRANCE: is a Federation of Rites, founded in 1773. Numerically, this Obedience is the most important.

THE GRAND LODGE OF FRANCE: was founded in 1894. All Lodges work the same Rite.

THE INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF LE DROIT HUMAIN: whose origins date back to 1882, is composed of men and women. This order is International.

Other more recent Obediences with their diversities have enriched Universal Freemasonry. Among them are:-

THE GRAND LODGE, TRADITIONAL AND SYMBOLIC, OPERA.

THE GRAND LODGE MIXED UNIVERSAL.

THE GRAND LODGE MIXED OF FRANCE.

The Ancient and Primitive Rite of Memphis-Mizraim enjoys privileged relations with these Obediences which have developed, particularly in the course of the last few years.
